Mom's Tree House Writing Club #2

This week's prompts are up and I'm already to go...

1. Describe something you saw as a child, you wish you have never seen.
2. Write a letter to your son/daughter, telling them how much they mean to you.
3. What is your biggest regret?
4. Have you read a good book lately? Tell us about it.

So I'm going to take the easy route this week and go with #4...

I have been reading miscellaneous books for reviews (mostly homeschooling books) and was blessed to receive a copy of "Petra" by TL Highley..set in Petra during the early church the characters encounter true evil and learn to learn on the love of God and Christ to make it through their journey. The book is a wonderful journey to Christ and a powerful look at evil and how it can impact even our daily lives.  The author has a wonderful site that sets up the idea of journeying through ancient Rome and early Christianity without the needed Passport. Her blog also gives readers in site into the story both the fiction and non-fiction aspects of Petra as well as links to research Petra yourself.  I am still working on my book review ( I tend to read and then re-read a book before I write a full scale review)

Mom's Tree House Writing Club

Today's writing prompt from Mom's Tree House I am working on is:
#3 Sometimes, I’m a bad mommy because…

(This is kind of a strange one considering the previous quote I posted, but I'm still going with the prompt.)

Sometimes I lose my temper and I know that my thoughts are no longer focused on God and Love. By moving from the loving thoughts I let my temper get the better of me and take it out of the kids usually by simply ignoring them. I know it is better to take the time out, but the best thing would be to not let my temper take over. I have a wonderful book that was given to me , the title is something like "10 minute time outs for Mommy" that has been a wonderful tool with Scripture verses and tools to get back on track to being the Mommy my boys want and need me to be (fun and loving)

Writer's Workshop at Bloggy Moms 3/23/2011

The week got a way from me as far as my writing. (Luckily the link up isn't until Monday the 28th so I'm ok)
The prompt this week is/ was:
This week, I want you to find a quote that moves you. Post the quote and the author, if known. Why does this quote move you? How does it make you feel? It doesn't necessarily have to be one that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. Maybe there's one that makes you laugh or want to scream at the top of your voice.

"We have nothing to fear when Love is at the helm of thought, but everything to enjoy on earth and in heaven."
Mary Baker Eddy  from Miscellaneous Writings

Sometimes this quote is a real help during the week while things seem to be taking me down. With everything I try to do I seem to forget that something as simple as the Love of God is enough to get me through even the darkest moments. As long as we remember and work toward loving thoughts and keeping those loving thoughts there can be nothing else.

Welcome Back

I have been gone too long... I have tons to share and hope to get just a bit of it posted in the next couple weeks. Once again Script Frenzy is coming up  (2 weeks away). I'm not sure if what I have on the creative frontier is script worthy but I will write during the challenge none the less.

Script Frenzy

So you will all have a bear with me in April as I dive head first in to script writing, which I haven't done seriously since college (circa 1993-1999)... I have a couple ideas in my head, of course I'm going for theatrical although you never know if may change itself as it evolves...
Don't be surprised if I decide to side line the novel ideas for the stage again... I might even get ambitious and go musical theatre....

Enjoy the spring weather, Spring Forward tonight  (that is your public service announcement)..

Escape the Hezbollah: Book Review

Escape The Hezbollah

I recently finished reading a powerfully intense work by Pola Muzyka. "Escape the Hezbollah" follows a young man through the ultimate test of faith and love. The main character Joseph is kidnapped into the Hezbollah army and forced under Sharia Law. This powerful story follows Joseph through his struggles to keep his faith in God while trying to stay alive, protect the ones he loves and escape.

This is a powerful , inspiring book. Not only well written, but well researched. I was taken by the research involved in the overall story as well included "glossary of events".
Overall the book really makes you think about your faith, your passion, your conviction. What would you do in his situation? Do you have the faith to stand up for God even in your darkest hours?

Fairy Tale: One Minute Writer

Today's Writing Prompt: Fairy tale

Fairy tales have many common character-types: princes, princesses, witches, fairies, ogres, giants, etc. What character would you like to be?

Adrianna the princess and her prince will come back someday.

***********
Her auburn hair and hazel eyes accent her young innocences. Where was her prince charming? Would he ever come again? He was the light that shown in her heart, the end of the love story. He was the inspiration she needed to keep going, to write, to sing, to perform. Just simply knowing he was in the

word war 1

Addy stood at the edge of the fenced yard wondering what brought her back to this place. Why had she accepted the invitation. She hadn't spoken with Thom since that last phone call over 3 months ago.  This was not the Spring Break she envisioned. The manacured lawn and the white picket fence of his mom's place was the picture of perfection. THe spring flowers bl;oomed in their fresh pastel colors, tulips, daffoldils and (another early spring flower) whispered peaceful thoughts as Addy carefully stepped forward to the farm house porch. Everything about this house and the yard reaked with perfection. How could she even compete with this life. The sweet smells of berry pie crept across the lawn. One step at a time. The porch stairs seems to hold her back, how could she think that she was good enough for this family. Thom proclaimed his love for her, but what did she think? Did she love him , could she adapt to that life?

"Come in my dear." Mrs. (ASDFSAFE) greeted Addy at the front door with her crisp pressed linen apron over her perfect navy blue floral dress. Even her dark chesnut hair was perfectly placed, not a strand out of place. Addy froze in her tracks, not knowing what to do.

" Adrianna, welcome." Mr. (ASFDSE) extended his hand to bring her in. This was almost too much for Addy to take, the overwhelming sense came over her to simply turn and run, this was all just a huge mistake, a nightmare she was going to wake up from. Addy took that first step across the threshold of the door and caught her balance. Catching her breath at the sheer elegance of the home, Addy knew there was no way she would ever fit into their perfect little world. All this was too much.

"Addy, mmmmm" Thom made his way arond his parents' crowding arms wrapping his own arms around her. "I've missed you, so much. It is good to hold you again," he whispered in her auburn hair as he hugged her closer and closer, protecting her from the questions and assumptions of his parents.

"Thank you for saving me back there." Addy softly whispered back, not knowing for sure how to respond to all this pomp and circumstance. " I hope I'm not under dressed for the occasion, I feel totally out of place."  She stiffened up pulling away from his grasp.

"Dinner will be ready in about 30 minutes.."
"Thanks Mom, we are going to sit on the porch and talk until dinner.
